National Deworming Day 2026
Sri Ganesh College of Engineering and Technology observed National Deworming
Day 2026 on 10th February 2026, in accordance with the circular issued by the
Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Puducherry. The
programme was conducted in coordination with the Health Department, Puducherry, to
promote awareness about intestinal worm infections and preventive healthcare among
students. The event was organized with the permission and support of the institution’s
esteemed management. The college expresses its sincere gratitude to the respected
Chairman, Thiru. Selvamani; the respected Chief Executive Officer, Dr. J. Prakash; the
respected Principal, Dr. N. Gobu; the respected Vice Principal, Dr. M. Karunakaran;
and the respected Administrative Officer, Dr. K. R. Sugavanan. Their continuous
encouragement and administrative guidance played a vital role in the successful
conduct of this health initiative
Importance of deworming
National Deworming Day is a significant public health programme aimed at
eliminating intestinal worm infections and improving nutritional status, hygiene
awareness, and overall well-being among children and young adults. As per
government guidelines, the main observation day was held on 10th February 2026,
with a Mop-Up Day scheduled for 17th February 2026 to ensure complete coverage.
For the effective implementation of the programme, Mr. A. Dayanithi, Assistant
Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, was appointed as the
Nodal Officer. He efficiently coordinated the arrangements and ensured the smooth
execution of the awareness session and tablet administration. The programme
commenced with an address by the Principal, Dr. N. Gobu, who emphasized the
importance of preventive healthcare, personal hygiene, and collective responsibility in
maintaining a healthy academic environment.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of the
management, the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, the Health
Department, the Nodal Officer, faculty members, and students for their cooperation.
The successful observance of National Deworming Day 2026 reflects the institution’s
commitment to promoting health awareness and ensuring the well-being of its
students.
