Admission Procedure for Engineering

Admissions for the engineering programs at Sri Ganesh College of Engineering and Technology are based on performance in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination or an equivalent qualifying exam. Candidates are admitted through two primary pathways:

Counseling Process:

Conducted by the Tamil Nadu state government and through CENTAC (Centralized Admission Committee) overseen by Pondicherry University.
Candidates are selected based on their academic performance and merit list ranking.

Management Quota Seats:

Eligible students may apply directly to the college under the management quota.
Applicants must meet the government-prescribed eligibility criteria and attend the campus in person to complete the admission process.

Eligibility for B.Tech Programs:

General Category: Minimum 45% average in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (max two attempts).
Backward Class: Minimum 40% average in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (max two attempts).
Most Backward Class: Minimum 40% average in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (max two attempts).
SC/SCA/ST: Minimum 40% average in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (max three attempts).

Lateral Entry Admission for Engineering Programs

Eligibility for Diploma Candidates:

Diploma holders in an appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology must have a pass in their qualifying examination, meeting the minimum eligibility marks prescribed by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu, or an equivalent authority.

Eligibility for B.Sc. Candidates:

Candidates must hold a recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Science with a 10+2+3 pattern and have studied Mathematics as a core subject at the degree level. Note that candidates with degrees other than Bachelor of Science are not eligible for lateral entry admission.

Minimum Eligibility Marks:

Both Diploma and B.Sc. holders must meet the minimum eligibility marks as outlined in G.O. (Ms.) No.263, Higher Education (J2) Department, dated June 30, 2008, and subsequent government directives.
